Rebels trounce St. Clair in opener

WELLS — Danielle Koestler scored 11 points and Katie Ovrebo and Kristie Ovrebo both scored 10 points as the United South Central girls’ basketball team defeated the St. Clair Cyclones 57-43 in Wells.

“It’s always good to get that first win,” Rebels head coach Stu Hendrickson said. “We played pretty well for the most part and were really happy with the win.”

The Rebels took a 30-21 lead into halftime and extended their lead in the second half.

Val Sahr led USC in rebounds with 13 on the night.

As a team, USC out-rebounded St. Clair 33-21, while the Rebels’ defense also forced the Cyclones into 24 turnovers.

The Rebels play again Thursday at Bethlehem Academy, Faribault.
