Bell Ringing at Moscow Lutheran Church

Published 9:12 am Wednesday, January 12, 2011

In honor of the people of Haiti, the Moscow Lutheran Church of rural Austin/Albert Lea is inviting the public to join them for coffee, hot cocoa and goodies at 3:30 p.m. today at the church. At 3:53 p.m., exactly one year after the earthquake, the church bell will be rung for 35 seconds, the duration of the Haiti earthquake. The campanologist (bell ringer) will be 10-year-old church member, Kevin Smeby. Donations will be taken for the Haiti relief efforts of the Lazarus Project Haiti in partnership with Food For The Poor.

This mission strives to alleviate the suffering of the poorest of the poor in Haiti. Gifts will help meet critical needs, providing support for important projects such as orphanages, schools or homes for disabled children.

For one month, donations will be accepted at Moscow Lutheran Church, 25965 870th Ave., Austin, MN 55912. For directions to the church, please call Kris Wilkie 507-373-3775 (day) or 507-889-3871 (evening).
