Albert Lea High School will celebrate Winterfest starting Monday. The weeklong celebration is a fun event for the high-schoolers for the season.

“It’s kind of a nice thing to do in the middle of winter,” Clay Anderson, ALHS activities director, said. “It picks the kids’ spirits up.”

Dress-up days are:

• Monday — Winter Bundle Day.

• Tuesday — Jersey Day.

• Wednesday — Ugly Sweater Day.

• Thursday — Blackout Day.

• Friday — School Spirit Day.

A pep rally on Wednesday starts at 2:25 p.m. until the end of the school day, and parents are invited to join in the celebration. Friday will be an activity day at the high school with a dodgeball tournament, movies and video game stations.

A Winterfest dance is scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. for high school students. Monday will feature a “scarving,” much like crowning of royalty.

Home games to look forward to next week include boys’ swimming against Austin on Tuesday, girl’s basketball against Mankato West on Thursday, girls’ hockey against Rochester John Marshall on Thursday , boys’ swimming against Mankato East on Thursday and a wrestling meet Saturday.
