Panthers down Cobras

NEW RICHLAND– Tyler Sorenson scored 16 points, while Matt Carlson added 11 points as the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Panthers boys’ basketball team defeated the Triton Cobras 56-46 Thursday in New Richland.

“Our defense in the first half was very good,” NRHEG coach Pat Churchill said. “We talk about holding teams under 20 points for a half and we were able to do that in the first half tonight.”

The Panthers built an early 12-0 lead in the first half and went into the break with a 28-17 lead.

Logan Spitzack led the Cobras with 20 points.

The Panthers, who have won five our of their last six games, hit the court again tonight at 7:15 p.m. as they host Gopher conference rival United South Central.
