Snowmobile falls through ice

A snowmobile reportedly fell through the ice into Fountain Lake near Monkey Island at 6:21 p.m. Sunday. No one was injured.

This is the second snowmobile in the last two weeks that has fallen into the lake. Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports state the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources was contacted.

Truck reported on skating rink

A truck was reported stuck on the Lakeview Park skating rink off of Willamor Road at 3:22 p.m. Monday, according to Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports. No damage was reported to anything but the ice.

Two arrested for DWI

Police arrested Eleuterio Telles Apanco, no address listed, for third-degree driving while intoxicated at 2:17 a.m. Sunday after a traffic stop near the intersection of Eberhart Street and Garfield Avenue, according to police reports.

Miguel Garcia, no address listed, was arrested for third-degree driving while intoxicated after authorities received a call of a vehicle in the median with its lights on near mile marker 152 of Interstate 90 at 3:42 a.m. Saturday, according to Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Woman cited for shoplifting

Police cited Carrie Beth Minkel, 30, for shoplifting at 5:24 p.m. Saturday at Shopko, 2610 Bridge Ave.

Multiple crashes reported on I-35

A vehicle rollover was reported in the median of Interstate 35 near mil 24 at 6:43 p.m. Monday, according to Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports. There were unknown injuries, but no other information was available as of press time.

A vehicle crash was reported on Interstate 35 south of the Clarks Grove exit at 6:48 p.m. Monday, according to Sheriff’s Office reports.

A man was reportedly transported to Albert Lea Medical Center after a crash on Interstate 35 near mile 15 at 9:04 p.m. Monday, reports stated. The Sheriff’s Office log stated the man had possible broken ribs.

Window reported broken

A broken garage window was reported to police at 2:55 a.m. today at 312 Vine Ave., according to police. Damage was estimated at between $25 and $50 in damages.

Woman injured after rollover

A 61-year-old received “non-incapacitating” injuries Sunday after the car she was riding in reportedly rolled into the west ditch on Interstate 35 near mile marker 209 in Worth County, Iowa.

According to Iowa State Patrol reports, the driver of the car, a 2003 Chevrolet Express van, was Mark John Vanderploeg of Clear Lake, Iowa.

Vanderploeg was reportedly southbound on Interstate 35 near mile marker 209 when he lost control of the car due to a brake malfunction and rolled into the west ditch at 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
