The Albert Lea Tigers wrestling team remained the No. 6-ranked team in the state Friday in the latest rankings produced by TheGuillotine.com despite beating the still No. 3-ranked Owatonna Huskies Thursday night.

The Tigers and Huskies stayed put because the rankings deadline was Wednesday night, according to John Nalan, TheGuillotine.com’s Class AAA editor.

Nalan said the Huskies will likely drop below the Tigers in the next rankings published on Jan. 28 and that the Tigers position will depend on how they performed at the Kiffmeyer Duals held Saturday.

Like the team rankings, there wasn’t much movement at the individual level, either.

At 103 pounds, the Tigers’ Dakota Wangsness moved from No. 8 to No. 6 and 145-pounder Trey Hable dropped from No. 6 to No. 8.

Dalton Westerlund and Cory Hansen stayed idle at No. 3 at 152 and 160 pounds, respectively, as did 171-pounder Carter Kortan and 189-pounder Conner Kortan, both at the No. 7 spot.

At 215 pounds, the Tigers’ Caleb Gaudian entered the rankings for the first time this season at No. 10, while heavyweight Alex Nielsen slipped from No. 6 out of the rankings.
