You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Big Red Power Round-Up: Enough winter — ready to think about June for a while? As a ticket booth volunteer you’ll meet folks interested in saluting the historical lines of International Harvester and Farmall Tractors, Big Red equipment, as they come from around the nation, Europe and South Africa for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Pat, at Senior Resources 377-7433, can provide the rest of the details and get you into the ticket booth schedule as often as you’d like during the run of the Round-Up June 21-25.

RSVP Knitters: Folks who knit and crochet have been busy making mittens and caps for infants, school children and lap robes for frail and elderly people. If you have unwanted washable worsted weight yarn to donate, call Senior Resources at 377-7433.

Salvation Army: Plan now for when you can help the Salvation Army during the mornings to package food boxes for the food shelf or for distribution of the boxes in the afternoons. Just call 373-5710, the Salvation Army. This winter has been hard on households with limited incomes.

RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
