GLENVILLE — Andrew Lau scored 17 first-half points Monday to pace the Glenville-Emmons boys’ basketball team past the Mabel-Canton Cougars 56-43 in Glenville.

Lau finished with 27 points, 13 rebounds and six steals.

“Andrew (Lau) was awesome tonight,” Wolverines coach Dan Fredrickson said. “He’s just been having an unbelievable year for us. He, Tyler Woodside and Landon Hall have been our anchor this season.”

Woodside had 10 points, nine rebounds and five blocks and Hall had six points, five assists and five steals.

The Wolverines (17-3, 13-2 Southeast) shot 57 percent in the first half and led 28-20 at the break. They struggled from behind arc making just 4-of-22 3-pointers but made up for it with 17 steals.

“Defensively, we’ve been outstanding our last two games,” Fredrickson said. “We just need to be more efficient offensively.”

The Wolverines play again at 7:15 p.m. Friday at Houston in what will likely determine the Southeast Conference champion.

“We have to put the rest of our body of work behind us,” Fredrickson said. “It comes down to just one game.”
