Pins, Bulldogs win district opener

LAKE MILLS, Iowa — Lindy Pins had 26 points and 12 rebounds Saturday as the Lake Mills Bulldogs girls’ basketball team beat Osage 50-39 in the Class 2A Region 3 tournament first round in Lake Mills, Iowa.

The Bulldogs (12-10, 7-7 North Iowa) led 26-22 through the first three quarters before exploding for 24 points and the fourth.

“We played an amazing ball game,” Bulldogs coach Beth Van Roekel said. “The girls turned it on in the fourth quarter. I am very proud of my girls.”

The Bulldogs made 16-of-18 free throws in the fourth quarter.

Amanda Lampman had 11 points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs while Catherine Adams chipped in five rebounds and a team-high four assists.

The Bulldogs will play Central Springs in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. tonight in Manly, Iowa.

Central Springs beat the Bulldogs 47-35 in Manly on Nov. 30 in the second game of the season.
