The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Panthers girls’ basketball team grabbed 49 offensive rebounds Friday en route to a 69-44 win over the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers.

Jade Schultz and Kristina Cole had double-doubles for the Panthers (19-3, 13-1 Gopher). Schultz had a game-high 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Cole had 15 points and 16 rebounds.

“It was a night of cold shooting for us,” Panthers head coach John Schultz said. “If we weren’t hustling on the boards we would have been in trouble.”

The Panthers have now won four straight after losing to United South Central on Jan. 27. The Panthers likely earned at least a share of the Gopher Conference championship by beating the Buccaneers (13-8, 8-5), which was their final test with conference games against Medford and Randolph remaining.

The Panthers’ Carlie Wagner and Raelin Schue just missed double-doubles. Wagner had 17 points and nine rebounds, and Schue had eight points and 16 rebounds.

The Panthers play again at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Medford (4-14, 2-12).
