Today is third day of medallion hunt
Published 8:59 am Tuesday, February 15, 2011
The Big Freeze takes place this weekend. The winter festival is a collection of many events mostly on Saturday — food, fishing, snowmobiling, live music, disc golf, polar plunge, snowshoeing and skydiving. A Texas hold ‘em tournament takes place Friday. Each event is listed in the Tribune calendar.
However, the Big Freeze fun started Sunday with a medallion hunt. Local artist Eloise Adams made the medallion. The finder receives $450 in Chamber Bucks. Clues will be printed and now start appearing online, too.
Tuesday:
Rule out Albert Lea Lake;
Rule out Pickerel, Goose and Chapeau.
Fountain is the lake we float on,
This park has a boat launch, don’t ya know?
Monday:
Go for walk short or long
And take your son and daughter.
The Big Freeze medallion
Is in a park that borders water.
Sunday:
No birds will be disturbed this year
No wrens, sparrows or meadowlarks.
But you will find the medallion
Hidden in one of Albert Lea’s 42 parks.
Employees of the following organizations and their immediate family members are ineligible to win the prize of the Big Freeze medallion:
• Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce
• Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau
• Big Island Rendezvous & Festival
• Albert Lea Tribune
• Three Eagles Communications
