Bauman scores 1,000th point as Rebels roll

WELLS — Kyle Bauman scored his 1,000th career point Monday late in the second half as the United South Central Rebels boys’ basketball team beat the Minnesota Valley Lutheran Chargers 63-50 in Wells.

Bauman finished the game with 32 points, one point shy of tying his career high, and banked in an eight-foot jumpshot for No. 1,000. He also finished with 13 rebounds and seven assists.

The Rebels’ (16-9, 12-4 Gopher) Riley Niebuhr scored 10 points.

The win concluded the Rebels’ regular season. They won six of their last seven games and play again in the first round of the Section 2AA tournament at 8 p.m. on March 8. Seedings will be announced later this week.
