Choir to hold final fundraisers

Albert Lea High School choir students traveling to England and Scotland this June will wrap up fundraising in the end of March. About 90 students and 50 adults will go on the trip from June 6 to 16. Choir members and parents have been fundraising throughout the year and have gotten community support. Each traveler is responsible for their own trip cost and have been working to reduce those costs by fundraising.

Tonight at Perkins there will be a benefit for the trip through Perkins’ Dine to Donate program. Customers bring in a flier, which are available from choir members or at the high school office, and eat between 4 and 9 p.m. Perkins will contribute 10 percent of the pre-tax total purchase to the choir trip.

The annual show choir competition will be held at the high school on Saturday. The event starts at 9:15 a.m. with the finals show starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. Choir Director Diane Heaney believes this show will be one of the finest in many years.

If community members would like to donate to the choir trip, time is running out for that opportunity. Checks can be made out to the ALHS choir and sent to the high school under the attention of Diane Heaney. Students and parents appreciate all the support they’ve received with various fundraising throughout the year.
