Crystal Andersen, 92, Blooming Prairie

Crystal Clara Andersen, 92, of Blooming Prairie, died Sunday morning, March 27, 2011, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

She was born November 19, 1918, to William “Bill” and Ida V. Young in Freeborn County, Minn., and attended school in Albert Lea. She was united in marriage to Arthur F. Andersen on June 24, 1936, in Northwood, Iowa. A farm wife all her married life, Crystal was known as “the Engineer’s Bride,” because she supported her husband’s steam engine hobby. She was the other half of the Art and Crystal’s Threshing and Steam Engine Show which was held in August for many years. Crystal will be remembered for love of her family and her great love for cats. A member of the Methodist Church, Crystal also ran the Stop N Shop store in Blooming Prairie.

She is survived by three children, Carolyn (Paul) Haubenschild, Jens Andersen (special friend Shirley Burton) and Crystal Joan Sellers all of Blooming Prairie; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 31, at Worlein-Blooming Prairie Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at Worlein-Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna or to the Humane Society or Donors Choice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
