Funeral services for Ernest Roald Skaaden, age 80, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Crossroads Evangelical Free Church. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at the Spring Grove Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. To sign the guest book, go to www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Ernest died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Good Samaritan Center.

Ernest Roald Skaaden was born on Sept. 4, 1930, in Spring Grove, the son of Einar and Gertrude (Peterson) Skaaden. He grew up in Spring Grove and graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1948. Ernest farmed for a few years and then moved to Albert Lea where he was employed at Streater for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He was a very active member of Crossroads Evangelical Free Church. Ernest had a strong faith in the Lord and read his Bible faithfully. In his retirement, Ernest drove for Ride Services, volunteered for Youth for Christ and delivered cars. He enjoyed visiting with friends over coffee, woodworking, farm collectibles, fishing, spending time outdoors and bird watching. Ernest also enjoyed traveling, especially going up north.

Survivors include his special friend Judy Moen of Albert Lea; children Kim Stickfort of Winnebago, Craig (Angie) Stickfort of Albert Lea, and Rhonda (Mark) Wannarka of Owatonna; grandchildren Jeremy Ertman, Matthew Ertman and Crystal Claussen; four great-grandchildren; sister Ruth Isely of Fairfax, Va.; cousins Kenneth Peterson, Pat Ecklund and Naomi Lindquist; and several nieces and nephews.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents.
