First Lutheran Church Women

First Lutheran Church Women met at 1:15 p.m. March 9 in Bethany Hall.

Prelude music was provided by Joan Holt.

Marge Moine welcomed everyone and led the reciting of the Purpose Statement.

Devotions were given by Diane Damerow.

Marlene Behle introduced the program “Meet Emma the Therapy Dog” by Jeanne Hendrickson.

Hymn No. 74 “Children of the Heavenly Father” was sung by everyone.

There was no old business. For new business the group needs to decide what to do for a program at St. John’s Lutheran Home on April 18. Damerow reported that the Education Commission needs questionnaires filled out as to what they are doing for the youth and anything else. These will be tabulated in March. Bonnie Schneider mentioned that containers are needed with covers to send home the soup that can be purchased.

The business meeting was conducted by Co-President Bonnie Schneider.

The secretary’s report was approved as printed by Vonnie Oftedahl and seconded by Bonnie Trampel.

Schneider reported the checking and savings account balances in the absence of Beth Doyle for the treasurer’s report.

In the absense of Lois Jensen, Elaing Peterson gave the corresponding secretary report. The report was as follows: A thank you was received from the Youth for Christ.

An offering prayer was given by Sue Olson.

Ushers for the meeting were Isy Lee and Marilyn Chafee. Hostesses were Chairwomen/Co-Chairwomen Marge Moine and Elaine Peterson and their committee: Kathleen Bennett, Cathy Carter, Audrey Christensen, Janet Drangstveit and Arlis Smith.

The Caring & Sharing Committee Co-Chairs Barb Andersen and Janice Tukua and their committee served one funeral in February.

Upcoming events:

• Lenten soup and sandwiches, March 9 through April 20, 11:30 a.m. in Bethany Hall, cost $5, devotions 12:01 to 12:07 p.m.

• Musical meditations, March 16 through April 20, 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. in the sanctuary. No admission charge.

• Lenten evening meals, March 9 through April 13, 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. in Bethany Hall. Cost $5 per person or $15 per family. Donations support the youth confirmation camp this summer.

• Lenten worship services, March 9 through April 13, 6:30 to 7:10 p.m. in the sanctuary.

• Blue Earth River Conference, Good Shepherd, Wells, April 9, registration at 8 a.m.

The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer.

The Table Prayer was sung and lunch was served.
