Lillian Maas, 91, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Lillian E. Maas, 91, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2011, at Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev. Bob Weniger will officiate. Lillian died Monday, March 28, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society.

Maas

Lillian Maas was born in Pillager on Sept. 3, 1919, the daughter of John A. Goodrich and Etta (Castle) Goodrich. She married LeRoy Maas from St. Paul in June 7, 1940, in Bemidji. Lillian attended grade school and three years of high school at Pillager and spent her senior year in high school at Mankato where she graduated in 1937. Lillian was employed by the Scherling Photography Studio in Bemidji from 1937 to 1941. She was a dedicated mother and housewife raising four children. In 1960, she started to work on public opinion polls, educational studies and market research. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Albert Lea since 1943. Lillian was a former Sunday school teacher, worked in vacation Bible school, was a circle member, served on various committees and was a member of the Ambassador Bible Class for many, many years. When they retired in 1980, Lillian and her husband, LeRoy, spent the two winters in Florida and Texas. The third year they went to Mesa, Ariz. They spent there winters in Arizona and summers in Albert Lea until the year 2004, at which time they were full time in Albert Lea.

Lillian is survived by her husband, LeRoy; children: JoAnn, Kathleen and her husband Lenny, Ronald, and Susan and her husband Jay; four grandchildren: Elise (Tom) Free-Golden, Todd (Eva) Madison, Jason and Trevor Muchow; two great-granddaughters: Madison and Ava Free; and one brother, John.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Edith, Cora and Eleanor; and brother, Earl.
