Albert Lea swimmers finish season at Section 1A finals

The Albert Lea Tigers boys’ swimming and diving team placed 10th Saturday at the Section 1A finals at Simley High School.

The Tigers finished with 51 team points, ahead of St. Paul Johnson, Hill Murray and St. Paul Humboldt. St. Thomas Academy ran away with the section title with 511 1/2 points.

The Tigers’ 200-yard medley relay team of Corbin Schultz, Sean Laurie, Preston Smith and Issac Olson placed ninth in 1 minute and 53.62 seconds.

Smith placed 16th in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.89 and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Larry Holcomb, Smith, Laurie and Andy Ehrhardt placed ninth in 1:44.64.

The Tigers’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Olson, Schultz, Ehrhardt and Holcomb placed 10th in 3:48.46, six seconds faster than their preliminary time.

The section finals was the last meet this season for the Tigers swimming and diving team. They graduate no seniors.
