William Paukstat, 68, of Austin

William L. Paukstat, 68, of Austin, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at his home.

He was born Dec. 31, 1942, to Ernest and June Paukstat in Osh Kosh, Wis. He served in the Navy for four years from 1961 until 1965. He was married and later divorced. William worked in construction helping build bridges. He loved to hunt and fish, play cards and listen to country western music. He enjoyed his time alone.

Survivors include his mother, June Paukstat-Muchow of Rock Springs, Wis.; two sons, William Lester Paukstat Jr. of Escanaba, Mich.; Lawrence Paukstat of Escanaba, Mich.; two grandsons; two granddaughters two great-grandsons; three brothers, Edward (Cindy) Paukstat of Singer, Wis.; Alvin (Jan) Paukstat of Palastine, Ohio, William John Paukstat of Reedsburg, Wis.; foster brothers, Justin Phippen of Florida, Hank Phippen of Madison, Wis.; foster sister, Heather (Brad) Birk of Madison; sister-in-law, Laura Paukstat of Madison.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, James.
