The Albert Lea boys’ tennis team was held without a win Thursday for the first time this season in a 7-0 loss to Rochester Century at Albert Lea High School.

The Tigers and Panthers battled through 43-degree temperatures and wind gusts of up to 22 mph.

The Panthers (1-0, 1-0 Big Nine) swept the Tigers (0-3, 0-1) in two sets in every match, but No. 2 singles player Dyllan Engebretson and the No. 3 doubles team of Aaron Woitas and Evan Templeman each won a team-high six games.

“I was pleased with Dyllan, Aaron and Evan,” Tigers coach Wayne Prudoehl said. “They pushed their guys from a team that is probably going to be ranked No. 6 in the state when the rankings come out later this month.”

The Tigers play again at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Northfield.
