Tigers boys’ tennis falls 5-2

The Albert Lea Tigers boys’ tennis made progress Friday by winning their first two individual matches since April 12.

The doubles teams of Kyle Zogg and Tate Tufte, and Even Templeman and Carter Dahl notched wins for the Tigers in a 5-2 loss to Blue Earth at the Albert Lea High School courts.

The Tigers looked on pace to win their first match of the season early as the team won the first set in four of seven matches. At No. 2 singles, Dyllan Engebretson won his first set 7-5, and at No. 4 singles, Aaron Woitas won his first set 6-4. Blue Earth rallied back in the second and third sets, though, to secure the win.

At No. 3 doubles, Templeman and Carter turned in the most dominating performance by only allowing one set win to their opponent. Zogg and Tufte also cruised at No. 2 doubles winning 6-4, 6-1.

The Tigers play again at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Fairmont.
