Wolverines drop wild game to Mustangs 23-17

The Glenville-Emmons Wolverines softball team gave up 14 runs in the first inning Friday to the Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain Mustangs and lost 23-17 in Truman.
The teams combined for seven over-the-fence home runs and 31 hits.
After scoring five runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead, the Wolverines fell behind 14-6 with six first-inning defensive errors.
The Wolverines tied the game 16-16 in the top of the fifth inning before the Mustangs pulled away with five runs in the fifth.
Alayna Hall went 3-for-5 with a home run for the Wolverines, and Kailey Davis was 2-for-4 with a home run. Robyn Roe went 2-for-3, and Jamie Williamson was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
The Wolverines play again at 4:30 p.m. Monday against Hope Lutheran in Glenville.
