On May 16, 21 citizens from Albert Lea graduated from the Albert Lea Police Department’s Citizen Academy. These 21 individuals participated in an eight week program that was designed to build a better understanding of the duties of their police department. Classes began on March 24 and included such topics as; history and structure of the department, police equipment, crime scene investigations, drug investigations, DUI enforcement, bike patrol, use of force, computer crimes, community service officer/evidence technician and the school resource officer program.
