A.L. Citizen Academy graduates

On May 16, 21 citizens from Albert Lea graduated from the Albert Lea Police Department’s Citizen Academy. These 21 individuals participated in an eight week program that was designed to build a better understanding of the duties of their police department. Classes began on March 24 and included such topics as; history and structure of the department, police equipment, crime scene investigations, drug investigations, DUI enforcement, bike patrol, use of force, computer crimes, community service officer/evidence technician and the school resource officer program. Each participant is also eligible to complete a four hour ride-along with an officer. -- Submitted photo
