A.L. girls’ track and field places 2nd

The Albert Lea Tigers girls’ track and field team placed first in five events Thursday and second in a triangular at Mankato West High School.

The Tigers finished with 57 points, ahead of Austin (37) and behind Mankato West (92).

Chrissy Monson placed first in the 800- and 1,600-meter races, and Alissa Allison finished first in the 200-meter dash. Gretta Johnson placed first in the 100-meter hurdles, and the 4×200-meter relay team of Allison, Sam Stanley, Bryn Woodside and Sarah Savelkoul placed first.

400-meter race: Alissa Allison, second; Sydney Renaldt fouth
3,200-meter run: Morgan Haney fourth; Galen Schultz fourth

4×100-meter relay: Bryn Woodside, Sarah Savelkoul, Colleen Thompson, Katie Williamson, second
4×400-meter relay: Sydney Renaldt, Colleen Thompson, Sam Stanley, Chrissy Monson, second
High jump: Allisa Allison, fourth
Pole vault: Alissa Allison, fourth
Long jump: Sydney Renaldt, third
Triple jump: Jensen Goodell, second; Karli Kriewall, fourth
Shot put: Kaley Waldemar, fourth
Discus: Kaley Waldemar, fourth

Kelly Nelson recorded personal bests in the shot put and discus, placing third in both events.

The Tigers junior varsity team finished second also with 59 points behind Mankato West (90) and ahead of Austin (21).

The Tigers finished first, second, third and fourth in the 200-meter dash and first and second in the 400-meter race.

The Tigers host Rochester John Marshall and Mayo at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at Hammer Field.
