Freeborn County District Court Judge Steve Schwab on Tuesday sentenced an Albert Lea woman to up to 20 years probation and community service for breaking into multiple homes last fall while she searched for prescription drugs.

In what was called a downward dispositional departure, Lynn Marie Spicer, 47, was convicted of six out of 10 counts of second-degree burglary, all felonies.

However, she will not have to serve any prison time unless she violates the terms of her probation.

According to court documents, the break-ins took place in both Albert Lea and various areas in rural Freeborn County in September and October. Spicer gained entry to the homes by either breaking out windows or kicking or smashing in doors.

She has since completed a state-funded addiction recovery program in Anoka.

The specifics of her sentence included a suspended 18-month prison sentence, 20 hours of community service and $80 in court costs.

Schwab also ordered Spicer to obey all laws, not possess alcohol or mood-altering chemicals without a doctor’s prescription, submit to random testing, have no contact with the victims, comply with all conditions of her probation agreement, find employment and get involved with aftercare and a support group.

Three of her second-degree burglary counts were dismissed during the sentencing, and one had been dismissed when she entered her guilty pleas in February.
