Albert Lea Civic Music announces the Scholarship Recital for the 2010 winners of the Jerdet and Wipplinger Scholarships. The recital will be held on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Albert Lea. Each year Civic Music is able to award scholarships through generous endowments from Mr. and Mrs. Rut Jerdet and Helen Wipplinger. Each spring there are auditions for the Jerdet scholarships for attendance of summer music camps for junior and senior high students. There is also a college scholarship for music major or non-music major who has finished the freshman year of college. The 2010 scholarship winners for junior high were Kristin Sandager, harp, and James Dundas, clarinet. The winners for the senior high division were Ray Stephenson, percussion and Talia Barber, baritone. Winners of the college division were Scott Ness, cello, and Amy Sandager, organ. Students also audition for the Wipplinger scholarships which award students and adults the opportunity for piano and organ lessons for the school year. 2010 organ recipients were Stuart Behling, Claire Buendorf and Chuck Sandager. Piano recipients were Amber Klein, Claire Bias and Emma Behling. The public is invited to attend the recital.
