People walking or driving through downtown Albert Lea this week may have noticed something new.

The Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau has relocated to the heart of the downtown into what some people know as the Unique Building, 102 W. Clark St.

The organization had been in the Northbridge Mall, off of north Bridge Avenue.

Local CVB Executive Director Susie Petersen said the CVB moved into the building last week with the help of Sentence to Serve volunteers. On Monday, they officially opened.

Petersen said she is excited about the visibility of the new location and its proximity to tourist attractions such as the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center and the Albert Lea Farmers Market.

The new space is about 800 square feet and is equipped with a walk-in reception area, a conference room, a bathroom and a space for making welcome bags, she said.

The building was also recently remodeled.

“We welcome everyone to come in there,” she said, noting there will be an open house sometime in June.
