To not stopping for school buses.
The driver of a semi sure picked the wrong county in which to go around a school bus. Two days after a driver killed 7-year-old Kadyn Halverson in Worth County, Iowa, a semi went around a stopped school bus with the stop sign out.
Passing stopped buses happens far too often. Drivers with the Albert Lea Bus Co. turn in license plates of cars that pass buses two or three times a month. And that’s just for the times when the plate numbers can be spotted.
People in Worth County and people who knew Kadyn Halverson have been wearing pink in remembrance of the 7-year-old girl. Pink was her favorite color. There is a page on Facebook called Wear Pink for Kadyn that asked people to wear pink last Thursday. However, if people couldn’t do it then, we suggest wearing pink a day this coming week in memory of Kadyn.
There might not have much for turnout at the kickoff for the Walking Moai on Thursday. Not only was the weather lousy, more people usually participate in their neighborhood’s moai than in the kickoff anyway. Albert Lea still supports the health benefits of walking, and we urge anyone to get out there and participate. Besides, it is a great way to get to know your neighbors.
