Essay contest winners

The City of Albert Lea Human Rights Commission has chosen the winners of its Human Rights Commission Essay Contest. They are Camryn Keyeski, first place – $100 prize; Kristopher Manges, second place – $50 prize, and Adriana Guerra, third place – $50 prize. Keyeski’s essay will also be entered into the state contest. The contest was open to 6th graders in the city of Albert Lea. Two classes, Mr. Hillman’s at St. Theodore’s and Mr. Harves’ at Lakeview participated. The theme of the essay was, “How do Human Rights apply to you and your peers in your school and community?”The winners were honored during the Albert Lea City Council meeting on May 9 by Mayor Rasmussen and the Human Rights Committee. -- Submitted photo
