Farmers Market opens Saturday

Weekend Planner

The Albert Lea Farmers Market will open for the season on Saturday, with exciting new changes. It will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays and from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays in the North Broadway Avenue parking lot near the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.

Around 30 vendors have signed up to be part of the market, and more information about the market can be found in the Friday edition of the Tribune.

• See the “East Meets West I-90 Art Connection” show at the Albert Lea Art Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Zion Lutheran Church will host a salad luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $5 and proceeds benefit mission projects.

• Enjoy the musical revue, “Always…Patsy Cline,” at 7:30 p.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $17 for adults and $14 for students.

• St. John’s Lutheran Home will hold a plant sale from noon to 3 p.m.

Saturday

• The Albert Lea farmers market opens for its first day of the season. It starts at 9 a.m. and goes until noon in the North Broadway Avenue parking lot.

• The Sample Saturday Series presents a disc golf clinic at 10 a.m. at Bancroft Bay Park near the kiosk. Discs will be provided for instruction. The clinic is free of charge and open to the public. Starting at 1 p.m. the public is invited to watch the 27-hole Albert Lea High School championship tournament. Top players will go to the Minnesota High School Disc Golf Championship the following weekend.

• Albert Lea’s community band will hold a concert at 1 p.m. near the food court of Northbridge Mall.

Sunday

• The Freeborn County Historical Society holds its annual meeting at 2 p.m. at the Freeborn County Historical Museum.

• Albert Lea High School seniors present a vocal recital at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea at 2 p.m. The public is invited to the free event, and there will be refreshments served after the recital.

• The 24th annual Aebleskiver Supper will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1101 Highway 69 S., Albert Lea, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 years old and younger.
