G-E baseball beats Knights

ALDEN — The Alden-Conger Knights kept it closer this time but the Glenville-Emmons Wolverines baseball team completed a season sweep Thursday of the Knights in Alden.

After no-hitting the Knights in a 19-0 win on April 21, the Wolverines won 7-2 Thursday behind starting pitcher Spencer Kral. Kral struck out 13 while walking three and scattered five hits.

Knights pitcher Spencer Wallin allowed 12 hits and struck out 10 batters while walking three.

After the Wolverines (12-5, 8-1 Southeast) opened a 4-0 lead in the first inning, the Knights notched three of their five total hits in the bottom of the frame and scored one run. The Wolverines tacked on three more runs and held the Knights (0-13, 0-7 Valley) scoreless until the sixth inning.

Tyler Woodside was 3-for-4 for the Wolverines with an RBI and two runs scored. Trent Thoms had two hits including a double and seven other Wolverines batters had hits.

Jordan Johnson and Deion Skinner both went 2-for-3 for the Knights, and Tony Behnke had one hit.

The Wolverines play again at 4:30 p.m. today at Blooming Prairie (4-10, 2-7 Gopher).

The Knights play again Monday at Hayfield (10-7, 10-7 Hiawatha Valley) and Thursday against New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva.
