Man arrested for string of break-ins

Albert Lea police arrested an 18-year-old Albert Lea man Wednesday who they believe is involved in a string of car break-ins in the area overnight on Tuesday.
Police arrested David Wesely Neely Jr. at 11:12 a.m. Wednesday. Police reportedly recovered a series of laptops, iPods, cell phones, purses and wallets at Neely’s residence in connection to the case.
Albert Lea Police Chief Dwaine Winkels said Neely reportedly walked all over town filling up backpacks with items from vehicles. Police are also investigating potential accomplices.
Break-ins were reported Wednesday at the following addresses:
• 813 John Farry Place
• 326 Summer Ave.
• 1502 Plainview Lane
• 813 S. First Ave.
• 1106 Janson St.
• 1110 Pinehill Drive
• 1604 Plainview Lane
• 104 S. First Ave.
• 1009 Plainview Lane
Winkels advised residents to not leave any valuable items in unlocked vehicles.
Copper piping stolen
Copper piping was reported stolen from a vacant house at 13193 890th Ave. at 4:31 p.m. Wednesday, according to Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Vehicle egged
A vehicle was reported egged sometime overnight on Tuesday at 709 Pilot St.
