The Northwestern Singers, under the direction of Brock Besse, will present their spring concert “Journey of Faith II” on May 20 and May 21 at 7 p.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Austin. The NWS will be joined by Albert Lea and Austin church choir members for the first half of the concert singing many beautiful and inspiring songs such as “Te Deum” by Mark Hayes, “On Eagles Wings,” “Morning Has Broken,” “Lord’s Prayer,” “One Faith, One Hope, One Lord” and more. The second half will be the NWS with many more songs including “Come and Worship,” “But God,” “You Are Holy,” “You Are My Shelter,” and “No More Night,” among others.

The singers will be accompanied by a 10-piece live orchestra ensemble of local musicians. All of the vocal and instrumental music was arranged by Brock for this concert.

Tickets are $10 and are available in Austin at Hy-Vee and St. Edward’s church office. In Albert Lea they are available at Marshall Street Music, 621 Marshall St., and any NWS member or at the door.

The Northwestern Singers are a group of men and women ranging in age from the 20s to the 70s from the Austin, Albert Lea and Rochester area who share a love of singing. They present three major events each year.

Their benefit concert, which includes area school youth choirs that performed in November, has raised more than $30,000 for youth music programs in the past 10 years. The NWS gives a scholarship each year to a Riverland Community College student. In addition to an annual spring concert, the NWS present a show every January complete with singing, costumes, choreography and orchestra.

Come and be inspired as the choir fills the St. Edward’s sanctuary with heavenly sound!
