Travel Class of Albert Lea met on April 18 at the home of Shirley Chnyst. The program preceded the business meeting.
Joann Schwartz presented the program, describing the trip on which she and her husband, Steve Schwarts, accompanied the Albert Lea Lions Club in their Eye Glass ministry mission to Peru in February. Twenty-one individuals made the trip, taking with them 12,000 pairs of eye glasses which had been donated to their program. The group was housed in comfortable quarters and provided meals for their stay.
The group was able to see and help 2,900 people during their stay. Many were successfully fitted with the eye glasses which helped them see well in the way they needed. Before returning home the group visited the ruins of Macchu Pichu in Peru.
The business meeting of the class was held following the program.
Reports were given and the receipt of new books to be disposed was acknowledged by book chairman, Muriel Sargent who also served as co-hostess.
