Thirty-seven Southwest Middle School eighth graders visited St. Olaf College on May 12. These students scored in the upper 90 percent on the ACT Explore test. They toured the campus, met with a college admissions counselor and had a college cafeteria lunch. Students were given a better understanding of campus life and what they need to do to prepare for college. Chaperones were Lynn Keenan, Jim Munyer, Chris Harveaux, Deb Goodnature Schmitt, Stacie Neal, Michele Johnson, Sara Jensen, Cheryl Carlson, Christma Lange and Tonya Turvold. Funding for this trip was made possible through District 241Õs Gifted and Talented Committee. This is the sixth year that gifted and talented students from Southwest Middle School have had this college exploration opportunity. -- Submitted photo
