Bike-A-Thon prizes given from local merchants

The 39th annual Freebom County Bike-A-Thon for Cancer held their prize night on May 31 at the Skyline Plaza. The top 14 fundraisers received prizes from our local merchants. The $35,060.50 final total was made possible by the team competition that raised $9,210.00.
The riders for Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean raised $4,472.00, Team Navarro with 35 riding in memory of Robert Navarro raised $2,531.00 and the 95 numbered riders raised the rest. David Anderson of Albert Lea was the top fundraiser with a total of $2,778.00 and received a savings bond from Farmer’s State Bank and a Martin’s Cycling & Fitness gift certificate. Other prizes were given to: Alicia Ryan a Visa gift card from Trades and Labor, Mike Pleiss a mint set from Security Bank, Richard Diaz a bond from US Bank, Mariah McGill a check from United Employees Credit Union, Leon Bure a gift certificate from Martins Cycling & Fitness, Sherrie Burt a bond from Farmers State Bank, Glen Juveland chamber bucks from Nancy VanderWaerdt State Farm Insurance, Donald Munden a gift certificate from Martins Cycling & Fitness, Fred Moran a Silver Eagle Coin from Citizens State Bank, David Christensen a gift certificate from Martins Cycling & Fitness, Karen McGill Chamber Bucks from Western Rental, Jacob Webber a bond from US Bank and Sue Blenka a bond from Home Federal. Each prize recipient also received a Hardee’s or McDonald’s coupon. Riders received a Bike-A-Thon t-shirt when they turned in the money they raised.
