Student to attend Southeast Technical College
Nick Cardona, a 2011 graduate of Albert Lea High School, will attend Southeast Technical College in Red Wing. He plans to become a luthier, which is a builder and repairer of guitars.
Scholarships awarded by Naeve Hospital Auxiliary
Naeve Hospital Auxiliary, supporter of Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, awarded two $500 scholarships to high school seniors in the Albert Lea area who plan to pursue careers in the medical field. Recipients were Caleb Gaudian, a graduate of Albert Lea High School, and Alayna Hall, a graduate of Glenville-Emmons High School. Scholarships were given on the basis of leadership, character and academic ability.
Students named to dean’s list
The following students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Northwestern College in St. Paul:
Jonathan Back, son of Barry and Laura Back, of Albert Lea. Back is pursuing a degree in graphic design.
Levi Peterson, son of Mike and Michelle Peterson, of Clarks Grove. Peterson is pursuing a degree in social studies education.
Isaac Paulson, son of David and Carrie Paulson, of Glenville. Paulson is pursuing a degree in engineering dual degree.
Student graduates from College of Saint Benedict
Jennifer Birkhofer, daughter of Dewey and Jan Birkhofer of Albert Lea, participated in the commencement ceremony at the College of Saint Benedict on May 14 on the CSB campus, St. Joseph. Birkhofer is a candidate to receive a bachelor of arts degree in art and psychology with the honor magna cum laude.
