Derek Lee Johnson, 27, of Blooming Prairie, died June 7, 2011, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

He was born June 26, 1983, to Kevin and Tamara Johnson in Austin, Minn. After graduation from Blooming Prairie High School and St. Cloud State University, he opened Derek Johnson Construction and Diamond Properties. He married Rebecca Naatz on Aug. 26, 2006, at First Lutheran Church where he was a member. Derek enjoyed fishing, playing cards and golfing. He loved being on the farm and helping his friends. He was teaching Brady his love of golf. He loved his family and had an unconditional love for his wife, Becky.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Johnson; son, Brady and a baby expected in November; parents, Tamara and Kevin Johnson; grandparents, Burnell (Gail) Johnson, Lerald (LaFaye) Farrow; two sisters, Melissa Johnson (fiancé Justin Kormann), Stacey Johnson, all of Blooming Prairie; parents in-law, Julie and Chuck Naatz of Waltham; Becky’s grandparents, Rosemary Naatz, of Waltham; Delores and Edward Engen of Austin; two sisters-in-law, Stephanie (Brandon) Burbank of Rochester; Sarah Naatz of Blooming Prairie; nephew, Hunter Burbank of Rochester; aunts; uncles; cousins; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Stanley Johnson.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastors Charles Leonard and Heidi Heimgartner co-officiating.
