To the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.

Thanks for all you do. From providing volunteers for the Red Power Roundup to helping other seniors with lawn work, this outfit goes above and beyond the call of duty, all for little to no recognition. It’s what true community service really is all about. RSVP provides the Tribune with a list of volunteer opportunities each Sunday. It is called You Can Help, and it is in the Lifestyles section.

To teen deaths.

Whether they happen in a car crash or a kayak caught in waves, teen fatalities are sad. We never want to report on them, as we are sure no one wants to see those headlines. But they are news that must be told because knowledge of what went wrong can save other lives. Let’s vow as a community to work to prevent teen deaths and keep our kids safe.

To an event-packed weekend.

This weekend sure offers a lot to do. The following events are (or were) this weekend: Glenville Days, Take a Kid Fishing Day, Eddie Cochran Weekend, Battle of the Bands, Steve Kirsch Motorcycle Run, Vietnam Veterans Recognition Picnic, Touch a Truck, Flight Breakfast and more. Phew! People will just have to decide which ones they want to attend.
