Gordon Hanson, 86, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Gordon L. Hanson of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea area veterans groups.
Gordon died on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. He was 86 years of age.
Gordon was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Austin, the son of Carl and Anna (Arett) Hanson. He attended public school in Austin. Gordon served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He had been employed for many years as a meat cutter for Wilson & Co. in Albert Lea.
During his lifetime, Gordon was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the VFW and the American Legion. He was a 4-H leader and enjoyed working with his children on their 4-H activities. He enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many camping trips with his family. Gordon loved horses and participated in several wagon trains and parades.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Diane, of Albert Lea; children; Debbie (Larry) Boettcher, of Walters; Duane (Paula) Hanson, of Ellendale; Darlene Montieth, of Des Moines, Iowa. Grandchildren; Troy (Dawn) Boettcher, Mike (Brandy) Boettcher, Brad (Katie) Boettcher, Stephanie (Dean) Rowe, Jessica (Ryan Brandt) Hanson, Jeff (Desiree Firth-Arnold) Montieth, Jake (Amber Hohn) Montieth, Rachel Montieth and Sara Montieth. Great-grandchildren; Dylan, Danielle, Zachary, Brayden, Kailey and Ashlyn. Step-great-grandchildren; Madison, Danielle and Shelby. Sisters; Mavis (Eugene) Parrish, of Albert Lea; Catherine (Wayne) Yule, of Owatonna; Iris (Joe) Donkers, of Owatonna. Brothers; Raymond (Vivian) Hanson, of Albert Lea; Byron (Jan) Hanson, of Owatonna; many nieces and nephews.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Anna and grandson Daniel Hanson.
