Funeral services for Kermith Oren Twito, 89, of rural Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Round Prairie Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at the Bear Lake Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by Freeborn County area veteran’s organizations. Kermith died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, Iowa.

Kermith Oren Twito was born on July 22, 1921, to Elmer and Amy (Walswick) Twito in Albert Lea. He grew up in the Northwood and Glenville area. After school, Kermith started farming on the family farm and then entered the United States Army during World War II. He served in the 50th Combat Engineers Co. A in the Pacific Theater. Kermith returned to farming after discharge from the service. On June 27, 1948, he was united in marriage to Delores Johnson at Bear Lake Lutheran Church. In 1950 the couple moved to Kansas where Kermith worked in construction for a couple of years. The couple then moved back to the rural Albert Lea area where he farmed and was a self-employed carpenter in the area. Kermith would work in construction during the week and farm on the weekends. He was a member of Round Prairie Lutheran Church, the VFW, American Legion and the Eagles.

Kermith enjoyed visiting with family and friends; he will be missed by all.

Survivors include his children: Sandy Atteberry of Tyler, Texas, Rolly (Paddy) Twito of Albert Lea, Rick (Donna) Twito of Albert Lea and Roger Twito of Nashville, Tenn.

Kermith was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Twito and Amy Walswick Twito (Parnell) Haroldson; wife, Delores; son-in-law, Bill Atteberry; and one brother in infancy.
