Tigers VFW splits with Rochester Century

The Albert Lea VFW baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday with Rochester Century.

The Tigers won the first game 2-0 with pitcher Lucas Hansen pitching all seven innings, and lost the second game 9-5.

Hansen allowed five hits and struck out six batters in Game 1, while going 2-for-3 from the plate. Zach Bordewich, Dakota Wangsness, Alex Avery and Dalton Carlson each recorded a hit for the Tigers.

In Game 2, pitcher Tyler Pirsig picked up the loss after pitching three innings. Bordewich went 2-for-4 for the Tigers and Levi Hanson went 2-for-3 with a double. Johnathan Fleek, Wangsness, Christian Roche and Pirsig each recorded a hit for the Tigers.

The Tigers play again Tuesday in a doubleheader against Rochester Mayo at 5 p.m. at Hayek Field.
