AUSTIN — Without payments, Oak Park Mall will owe almost a quarter-million dollars in unpaid taxes by the end of 2011.
The mall owes about $142,900 in delinquent taxes for the property, which doesn’t include the Shopko or Mower County Health and Human Services wings, according to Mower County Auditor-Treasurer Doug Groh.
Another $42,800 payment is also unpaid for the first half of 2011, though that payment is considered late, not delinquent.
If the total $78,680 due in 2011 is not paid by the end of the year, the mall would owe more than $225,000 in unpaid property taxes, according to Groh.
The mall’s property tax debt has climbed for more than two years. The most recent payment, for $38,658, was filed May 14, 2009, according to Groh.
Mall ownership still has more than a year of leeway, as the property is scheduled to forfeit on May 13, 2013, according to Groh.
Calls to Oak Park Mall owner M H Graff & Associates Inc., were not immediately returned.
