Domestic Engineers

The Domestic Engineer Learning Circle met on May 26 in the home of Phyllis Hamborg. President Sharon Jahnke called the meeting to order and thanked the hostess.
Roll call was taken with 11 members present. Hamborg gave the secretary’s report, and it was approved. There were no treasurer, councilor or South East District reports. Vice President Bev Diercks gave plans for the annual trip. The group will be staying in Albert Lea and surrounding area and visit places of interest here. They will meet at Grandma’s Kitchen at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and go on from there. More details will follow.
Judy Myers planned to take treats to Broadway Board and Care Plus for July 4.
South East Representative Diercks reported on the “Spring Fling.” there had been a good turnout. The fall retreat will again be held in Kasson. The main speaker will be Dr. Edward T. Creagen. The topic will be “How to age successfully.”
Perky Smith made motion to adjorn. Diercks seconded it. Sharon Jahnke conducted the installation of officers: President Jean McCarthy; Vice President Elaine Baer; Secretary Darla Christianson; Treasurer Gen Montei; Sunshine person Perky Smith; Councilor Neva Mathison; and historian Carol Olson. Elaine Baer and Neva Mathison gave the lesson, “Healthy foods, Healthy Living” and “Eating for a Healthy Heart.” They had interesting handouts for the group.
Lunch was served by Hamborg.
