Dorothy Bridley, 85,Albert Lea

The memorial service for Dorothy L. Bridley will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Home Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker and the Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will be officiating. Interment was in Lakewood Cemetery, Albert Lea. Friends may visit with family one hour before service at the chapel.
Dorothy died Friday, July 8, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 85 years old.
Dorothy was born in Albert Lea on Sept. 22, 1925, the daughter of Clifford and Ruth (Ruerup) Bridley. She graduated from St. Olaf College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, religion and biology. Her last residence before residing at St. John’s Lutheran Home was 1319 South Broadway, Albert Lea. Dorothy was a member of First Lutheran Church. Dorothy was the Dean of Women at Waldorf College and head counselor for the University of Iowa. She had been a parish worker at Rockford, Ill. and First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She had also worked for Streater for 10 years before retiring. Dorothy was interested in rosemaling, calligraphy, classical music, reading, crossword puzzles, cats and cooking.
Dorothy is survived by nieces: Penny Lee and Linda Acosta; great nieces: Piper Brown and Emily Acosta.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents: Carl and Ruth Ramsey, and sister, June Rieple.
