Expect delays on Highway 14

Motorists will encounter single-lane traffic in each direction without a median on the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 14 near Owatonna beginning today and running through September.
Prior to this switch, Highway 14 had single-lane traffic in each direction with a median separating eastbound and westbound motorists.
The ramp connecting westbound Highway 14 to southbound Interstate 35 will remain closed, and motorists should continue to follow the posted detour.
The closures are necessary as work continues on the three-year reconstruction of Highway 14 from Waseca to Owatonna which also includes construction of a new interchange at I-35 and Highway 14. Delays on I-35 near Owatonna remain.
When the project is complete, motorists will experience a smoother ride surface and a safer highway.
Mathiowetz Construction Co., Sleepy Eye, is the prime contractor for the project. The entire project is expected to be completed by June 2012.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
