Here are highlights in history for July 14, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1993 — A column by Geri McShane, the Tribune’s managing editor, had as its topic her 15 years experience based on wearing contact lenses.
1983 — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers told people of Northwood, Iowa, the dredging of the Shell Rock River to help with farm drainage problems just wouldn’t work out.
1953 — The Albert Lea Recreation Department sponsored a pet show for children at Fountain Lake Park.
