Memorial services for Roger Eugene Anderson of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Roger died on June 27, 2011, at the Cerenity Senior Care in St. Paul. He was 79 years of age.
Roger was born March 25, 1932, in Freeborn County, the son of Milton and Helen Anderson. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1950.
He was united in marriage to Reva Sonkson on Sept. 30, 1953, in Albert Lea. Together they worked and lived on the family dairy farm until 1984. Roger also worked as a custodian at First Lutheran Church and at the local Hy-Vee grocery store.
Roger loved spending time with his wife and daughters; they were the love of his life! He was an avid reader and enjoyed animals, especially his pet cat Romeo. Roger and Reva were charter members of the Albert Lea Cantori, where they both loved to sing.
Roger is survived by his daughters Linda Sue Anderson and her husband, Timothy Hammett, of Minneapolis; Lavon Anderson and her husband, Luc Corno, of St Paul.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Reva, in 2004 and son in law Lane Daley.
Memorials are preferred to the Freeborn County Humane Society or the Health East Hospice Care Program Fund.
