Savannah “Foo Foo” McCrea, 3, of New Ulm died Saturday, July 2, 2011, at her home. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm with the Rev. Hank Campbell of the United Church of Christ in New Ulm officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Friday.

Savannah is survived by her father, Charlie Zangl of New Ulm; sisters: Sadi (Jed) Hunstad, Minnetrista, and Emmy (Kevin) Landrum, Winona; brother, Pete Zangl, Huntington Beach, Calif.; aunts and uncles, Jim Zangl and Janna Halsrud, St. Paul, Ruth and David Mecklenburg, Sleepy Eye, Marie and Mark Hippert, Owatonna, Ann and Jeff Johnson, River Falls, Wis., Jyneal McCrea and Mark Hofmann, New Ulm, Jason McCrea and Kate Michmerhuizen, Boston, Mass., Jennie and Jan Backstrom, Turlock, Calif.; nieces: Arabella Landrum and Sophia Hunstad; nephews: Marius, Maxwell,and Maddox Hunstad; grandparents: Leo and Helen Zangl, Ruth McCrea Simpson; godparents: Samantha Mecklenburg, Ocean Beach, Calif., Bruce and Shannon Kuelbs, Sleepy Eye; and many cousins. She died along with her mother, Bobbi McCrea and sister, Abby Wood; and was preceded in death by grandfathers: Jim McCrea and David Simpson.

Savannah Grace McCrea was born on July 24, 2007, in New Ulm. She attended Sunday school at United Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking in the kitchen with her mother; she was a great egg cracker. She would want ice cream any time of everyday. Nothing made her happier than watching cartoons and snuggling with her family. She had an unmatched sense of humor for a 3-year-old. She loved to play at parks, read books, and sing songs, dance and dress up as a princess. She was a ray of sunshine with her bright blue eyes and her glowing smile that would light up a room. Savannah will be tremendously missed by everyone.
