Window chalk on dozens of vehicles

About 50 or 60 cars were reportedly written on with window chalk over the weekend throughout Albert Lea, according to Police Chief Dwaine Winkels.

Reports stated about 20 vehicles near 118 S. Third Ave. were reportedly written on, along with five or six at 1609 Bridge Ave.

The incidents were reported to police Sunday morning.

Winkels said because the chalk washed off and the vehicles were not damaged, there will be no charges filed.

Three arrested for DWI

Police arrested Michael Joe Vandeweerd for driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop at 1:45 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of West Front Street and South Washington Avenue, according to reports.

Police arrested Oscar Eduardo Imperial for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated at 2:02 a.m. Saturday at Luther Place, according to reports.

Police arrested Thaddeus Duane Van Riper for second-degree driving while intoxicated, felony fleeing in a motor vehicle, speeding, careless driving and driving after revocation after a traffic stop at 4:39 a.m. Sunday at 1428 Academy Ave., reports state.

Flooded roads reported

Numerous flooded roads were reported in Freeborn County Friday evening.

According to reports, a shoulder and ditch with a large hole was reported near the intersection of 885th Avenue and 260th Street.

Water was reportedly passing over the roadway of U.S. Highway 65 just north of Gordonsville at 6:18 p.m. Friday.

Water was reported over the roadway of 720th Avenue near the intenrsection with 110th Street in Emmons at 6:53 p.m. Friday.

Two cited for illegal consumption

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies cited Nicholas Patrick Tippett and Christopher Michael Edwards for illegal consumption after a traffic stop at 2:21 a.m. Sunday at 75351 255th St. in Clarks Grove, according to reports.

Lawn mower stolen

A lawn mower was reported stolen from a shed at 26536 725th Ave. in Albert Lea at 10:56 a.m. Saturday, according to Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Graffiti reported

Graffiti was reported on the side of the building at 920 S. Broadway Ave. at 8:13 a.m. Friday, police reports state.

Mailbox damaged

A mailbox was reported damaged at 340 E. River Road in Glenville, according to reports.
